Florida Tour - 2019

I recently returned from my Florida tour in February, 2019.   I traveled to churches in Summerfield, FL, and played at "Ignite the Church" conference in Orlando.   It was a blessing to share my music ministry at Hope Lutheran Church, Christ Lutheran Church, and The First Congregational Church, all in Summerfield.   I'm always amazed and reminded that music is powerful- - - when words can't express how we feel, God gives us the gift of music.  I also had the opportunity to visit with friends I had not seen

Easter- 2017

As we approach Easter this Holy Week, may we remember our Lord, His sacrifice, and the Resurrection.    It's hard to experience Good Friday, and many people opt not to attend those services.  Yes, it is sad, and heart wrenching.  But Easter is more meaningful and joyful, if we have experienced the agony and the sadness of Good Friday.   Then we can joyfully say on Easter, "He is Risen"!

God & Country - 2016

This Friday night, June 24th, 2016, at 7:30 PM, I will be presenting my annual God & Country Concert at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Middletown, NJ.   We will honor our country and our veterans, and also raise funds for The Emmanuel Cancer Foundation.  I look forward to conducting the choirs and St. Peter's Brass.  It will be a concert of remembrance as well, as we grieve the loss of our fellow Americans, who were recently killed in Orlando, FL.  The concert is free, but a free will offering will beRead more

Christmas - 2015

I just checked my blog page, and realized I had not written in months!   I am excited about Christmas 2015!  I have a new Christmas CD coming out in just a few weeks!   It was recorded in Nashville, except for the choir and a few of my lead vocals, which were recorded here in NJ.   It has been an exciting year working with producer, Dave Bechtel, a real talent, who lives in Thompson Station, right outside of Nashville.  The music team he put together for this project was phenomenal!   These musicians have…Read more

Looking Ahead! Spring- 2015

It's been a while since I've written on my blog.  With the death of my parents within a year, 2013-2014, life has been difficult, emotional, and transitional.  We all go through those darker times-- when we feel empty, lost, and afraid.   Yet, Christ will meet us there, in those moments of doubt and fear.  He is always with us, in our sorrow and in our grief.  When we start to feel alive again, we see the light ahead of us.  There is a rainbow of hope waiting for us.  Jesus promised He will never leave us orRead more

Summer - 2014

It's been a busy and fulfilling summer!   It started out with the Alaskan Cruise with Michael W. Smith, and singing with the 250 voice True North Choir. Our concert in Juneau was inspiring!  The people there don't hear many live performances, since the location of Juneau is isolated.  You can only get there by boat, ship, or plane.   The audience loved our music, and the proceeds were given to LOVE, INC, Love in the Name of Christ.  This is the same organization my Count Basie concerts have benefited.Read more

Thanksgiving- 2013

This Thanksgiving will be hard without my Mom. Going through the stages of grief has been painful, but the love of family and friends has been a great comfort.   The Lord has placed many angels in my life, to help me cope and to heal.    My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you who are mourning the loss of loved ones this holiday season. If you live in the Middletown, NJ area, we are doing a Blue Service on Wednesday, December 4th, at 7:30 PM.   This special service is for those in grief, during theRead more

Eleanor Scharff - My Mom goes home to be with the Lord

On August 4, 2013, my Mom went home to be with the Lord.   She had just turned 90 years old in June, and was doing well.  She was a vibrant woman, until she got sick in July.  She was in the hospital for 3 weeks, with pneumonia, and then a massive stroke.    Her heart stopped on August 4th.   My family and I were not with her when she passed away, but the nurses said she passed peacefully.   My Mom touched many lives with her love - - people just loved her, the minute they met her.  She loved the Lord, andRead more
