I'm writing a song for the Children's Choir for my "Christmas Is Love" Concert at Count Basie Theatre. It's called, Be the Light of My Heart. I love writing a special song for the kids. The Ecumenical Choir will also be a part of the song. One of the little girls from the choir, Maggie Lu, will be singing a solo. I like to work with the kids first, before I finalize the music and the words. When you write for yourself, you know your own vocal range. But with the kids, I want to make sure the range is comfortable for them. Children are an inspiration. Their faith is pure, sincere, and honest. I learn so much from them!
